As always, when I go anywhere, I like to know of the local Native peoples. In Edmundston, New Brunswick where we’re staying right now, there is a Maliseet reservation nearby (I am unsure of the band), and in Van Buren, Maine there is a Mi’kmaq band in the town nearby. It’s oddly comforting knowing that there are other Natives within a short distance, even if I’m not directly talking to them.
