Don’t ever tell me the fight is not over and that Native Americans have it great. This is an email I received last week:
“Unfortunately, the manager of the Assawompsett Pond Complex, Nancy Yeatts and her people at the Town of Lakeville have unfairly (and quite rudely) asked us to remove the lodge, and are threatening to do it themselves. Of course, we don’t want to do this, and we have every right to be there, having broken no laws in exercising our religious freedom as Native Americans, nor as citizens of the United States on public land. Betty’s Neck, as many of you may know, is still disputed as having been occupied illegally by the invaders. Despite this, the Town of Lakeville continues to occupy the land and to dictate the rules and regulations for using it as a park and conservation land.”
